The primary question I get asked is whether Reverse Osmosis can be used for the whole house.
The answer is no for the following reasons:
- Reverse Osmosis water is not in a state normally found in nature - it is devoid of electrical charge and minerals. This creates a detrimental issue in that the water is "hungry" and so attempts to right itself and leeches from hot water tanks and pipes and will actually cause damage to your heater and pipes.
- Due to the need for the holding tank for RO water, water pressure is greatly reduced and cannot support a households need for water.
Can Reverse Osmosis be a countertop unit?
- Multi-Pure does not sell these but I have seen them available on the internet. The RO process does make noise as the water back washes through membranes. Having a countertop RO will create a noisier living space and you now also will have a holding tank on your countertop.
Multi-Pure's MP750 Plus Reverse Osmosis System features FIVE Stages of filtration giving you performance that no other device can provide. By combining Multi-Pure's superior carbon block filter technology with state-of-the-art reverse osmosis, you will receive the highest quality drinking water possible. Here's how it works:
Stage 1: The Sediment Pre-Filter screens out particles down to 5 microns, improving the appearance of your water.
Recommended filter change (Model No. CBC110): approximately every 6 months.
Stages 2 & 3: Carbon Block Pre-Filters -- next, water passes through two 5 micron Carbon Block Pre-Filters that ensure that chlorine and other materials that cause your water to taste and smell bad are reduced.
Recommended filter change (Model No. CBC112): approximately every 6 months.
Stage 4: The RO Membrane is a high-production, 50 gpd, thin film composite semipermeable membrane that separates unwanted inorganic impurities, such as nitrates, fluoride, etc. from your water. This hyperfiltration membrane reduces salts, certain heavy metals, and other impurities, giving you great tasting water.
Recommended membrane change (Model No. CB-ROM): approximately every 2 years.
Stage 5: The Carbon Block Post-Filter, the final stage of the water treatment process, provides the most efficient contaminant removal possible. Multi-Pure’s densely compacted carbon block filter mechanically intercepts particles as small as 0.5 micron (sub micron) as well as electrokinectically adsorbs particles by attracting the negative ions of certain contaminants. In addition, the carbon block filter has a large surface area for chemical/physical adsorption to take place, reducing many different organic chemicals, pesticides, herbicides and certain heavy metals. This filter provides the water polishing so desirable in a Reverse Osmosis system.
Recommended filter change (Model No. CB6): approximately once a year.
Multi-Pure's MP750 Plus Reverse Osmosis System delivers safe, deliciously clear drinking water that is convenient and affordable.
Our Model MP750 Plus RO combines Multi-Pure’s renowned carbon block filter technology with the reverse osmosis technology, making it the most technologically advanced System in the world today.
The Multi-Pure MP750 Plus RO is the only device certified under NSF/ANSI Standards 42, 53, and 58 to reduce 67 contaminants including:
- Nitrates/Nitrate
- Arsenic V
- Chloramine
- PCBs
- Toxaphene
- Chlordane
- Lead
- Mercury
- Fluoride
- MTBE
- Copper
- Cyst
- VOCs
- and many more
The Multi-Pure MP750PlusRO Unit is easy to install and simple to operate. It uses no electricity and the impurities removed through the reverse osmosis process are flushed down the drain. The pre-filter component provides 5 micron filtration to remove large particulate matter and extend the life of the reverse osmosis membrane. The reverse osmosis component reduces the level of Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), rust, dirt scale, and organic tastes and odors. The processed water is conveniently stored in a 3 gallon pressurized tank which is small enough to fit neatly under your sink.
Multi-Pure's MP750PlusRO Unit includes pre-filter, RO membrane, and Multi-Pure’s Model MP750SB as a post-filter, giving you the highest quality water possible.
If you are concerned about Fluoride, Multi-Pure's Reverse Osmosis Water System is the product for you!
